Ponies season 1 just wrapped on Peacock with eight episodes, leaving viewers with a stunning cliffhanger. Our two alleged widows, Bea Grant and Twila Hasbec, played by Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson, have been on the hunt for answers and justice. They got a few of the former, at least, during that finale.
Fans want to know if there will be more Ponies to come along with an explanation about just what happened to their husbands—if anything at all! Here’s what we know about a season 2 of Ponies so far. Warning: spoilers ahead.
Will there be a season 2 of Ponies?
Not yet. The show has not officially been renewed, despite the shocking twist at the end of the first season.
But in a January 2025 interview with Collider, the two showrunners and writers for Ponies, Susanna Fogel and David Iserson, discussed plans for season 2 very confidently.
Fogel focused on changes for the two main characters who have fallen into a CIA plot that’s fomenting tensions between the U.S. and Russia.
“Bea and Twila, it still is going to be that they are at the precipice of the greatest conflict of their time between the two most powerful countries in the world, and they're in it,” she explained. “They're right in the center of it, even though nobody quite knows that they exist.”
She continued, “They're different people at the end of the season than they were at the beginning, and in season 2, they’re just going to have to re-ask themselves these questions about what personally is in this for them and what are the stakes for them, and I think that becomes exciting.”
What would season 2 of Ponies be about?
Bea and Twila end the season trapped by Anton’s men in a burning building, forcing them to surrender to Andrei’s men, even though they’ve been interrogating their leader. Dane finds Bea’s husband, Chris, still alive and in hiding. She’s not a widow at all, a huge revelation given how much of season 1 was about finding out how Chris died. Season 2 would have to grapple with this new reality and how she finds out. Right now, only her grandmother Manya has received the news. It also turns out that the Embassy mole has been Cheryl, Ray’s wife, so political machinations and domestic life will probably continue to stoke the drama.
Who would be in season 2 of Ponies?
In addition to Richardson and Clarke, the show stars Nicolas Podany, Vic Michaelis, Artjom Gilz, Sophia Shkliaruk, Adrian Lester, Petro Ninovskyi, Pál Mácsai, Louis Boyer, and Harriet Walter.
