Tiger Woods told authorities that he was talking to “the president” in the moments after he crashed his SUV in Florida on Friday, a new bodycam video shows.Bodycam video obtained by PEOPLE sees a deputy approaching the 50-year-old pro golfer near the two-lane road where he crashed and rolled over his Range Rover after clipping the back of a truck in Jupiter Island, Fla., and asking him to “hang out down here with us.”Woods, who is on his cell phone, walks toward the officer and can be heard saying, “thank you so much, alright, you got it, thanks.”As he nears the deputy, the officer reiterates that he just wants to keep Woods “near us.""Yeah, I was just talking to the president," Woods responds, holding up his phone in the air. “Trying to get away from everybody.”

It is unclear whether Woods was referring to being on the phone with Donald Trump in the aftermath of the accident, but the two are close friends who have publicly lauded one another in the past.“I feel so badly,” Trump said after landing in Miami to speak at an investment summit shortly after Woods’ accident last Friday, but before it was announced that he had been charged with DUI. “He’s got some difficulty. There was an accident and that’s all I know. Very close friend of mine, he’s an amazing person, amazing man. But some difficulty.”Earlier this week, the president expanded on his thoughts about Woods in an interview with the New York Post.

“He lives a life of pain,” Trump told the outlet on Tuesday, March 31. “He has a lot of pain. He’s an amazing guy. He’s an amazing athlete. He does have pain.”He added, "He doesn’t have an alcohol problem, but he does have pain.”On the same day, Woods announced that he would be seeking treatment following his arrest."I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today," Woods wrote in a statement posted on X. "I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery."
