Tiffany Haddish had an emotional reunion with her social worker during her comedy show.

The comedian, 46, shared a touching video on Instagram of herself overcome with emotion after being surprised by her social worker, Coleta Lewis, in the audience at her recent stand-up show.

“Holiday Reunion with my social worker. Thank you, Coleta, for everything 💕,” Haddish wrote of the sweet reunion in the caption.

In the clip, the Girls’ Trip star is seen onstage looking out in the audience as Lewis says to her, “I don’t know if you remember me, my name is Coleta Lewis.”

“Coleta Lewis! My social worker!” Haddish says, immediately recognizing Lewis. “Turn the lights on,” she next shouts out, before leaving the stage to hug Lewis.

Haddish is next seen back onstage, tearfully telling Lewis, “You saved my life. I'm where I'm at now because of you. Because you encouraged me, you were one of the first people to believe in me. Thank you. I love you."

Haddish explained to the audience that Lewis supported her through her substance abuse issues and gave some much-needed direction and focus in life.

“Coleta was my second social worker and [in school]
I used to get in trouble y'all, talking too much and s—, and she was like, ‘You got two choices this summer, you can go to the Laugh Factory Comedy camp or psychiatric therapy
,” she said.

“And I was winning all those drama festivals and I said, ‘Which one got drugs?’ And you said, ‘You won’t be on drugs, you’re going to therapy,’ ” Haddish addressed Lewis. “
So I went to the comedy camp
 that changed my whole life.”

Haddish revealed in her latest Instagram post that she recently “wanted to quit stand-up” and that before the show, she had been “praying to my God
to give me a sign that I should keep doing stand-up.”

“I was over it
I remember being on stage saying to myself, 'This is the end of stand-up and this is just how I want to finish,’ ” wrote Haddish. “Then out of nowhere, God sends the first person outside of my family that actually believed in me,” she said, referring to Lewis.

“She placed me in the best possible home, the Laugh Factory comedy club. She saved my life and I will forever be grateful,” added the star.

Haddish has been open about her past addictions and shared with PEOPLE in 2024 that she’s been sober since her 2023 DUI arrest.

“I haven’t had a drink since [the incident]. When I sit back and look at my life, everything that’s crazy that’s happened is because somebody or I had alcohol in their system,” she said at the time.
