*The View* hosts are slamming Donald Trump over his “disgraceful” comments following the deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner. **
In a lengthy Truth Social post on Monday morning, Trump wrote in part that Reiner died “due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.” **
Sunny Hostin attempted to read Trump’s post aloud on Monday’s episode before moderator Whoopi Goldberg — who worked with Reiner on the 1996 film *Ghosts of Mississippi* — stopped her and told viewers to read the words depicted on screen instead.**

“He talked that he died because of Trump derangement syndrome,” Hostin elaborated, “and I just don’t think that that’s something we should be hearing about.”
Ana Navarro paid tribute to Reiner before similarly calling out Trump for his “shameful” remarks. “For Trump to have put that out today, I’m gonna say it, damnit, there’s an American family grieving,” she said, pointing her finger toward the camera. “This is a tragedy not just for the family, but for all who knew and loved him.”

She continued, “And for the president of the United States to make this about him and a way to attack Rob Reiner because he exercised his American right to speak up with what he disagreed with is shameful, it’s disgraceful, and, of all the disgusting things that Donald Trump has done, this is right up there.” **
Goldberg, who honored her friend Reiner at the top of the segment, became visibly emotional when addressing Trump’s remarks. **
“I don’t understand the man in that White House, because he talked so much about Charlie Kirk and caring,” she said. “And, suddenly, this is what he puts out. Have you no shame? No shame at all? Can you get any lower? I don’t think so.” **
Goldberg then asked Trump to respond to the other tragedies that occurred over the weekend, including the terror attack at Bondi Beach in Australia and the mass shooting at Brown University. **
“Where is our voice as Americans? Somebody’s gotta speak up for us! Our hearts are breaking through all of this,” she continued. “Through Rob, through what’s happened at Bondi Beach, what happened at Brown, and you don’t find the time to say, ‘As Americans, we hate what’s happening?’ You ain’t my president, man.”
After the commercial break, Goldberg issued a correction that Trump did share his condolences in the wake of the Bondi Beach attack and the shooting at Brown. "But this is how he followed it up," she added, referring to his post about Reiner. "So, my bad. You did say something. Not what I would've liked to have heard from you, but you did do it, so. There you go."

Earlier in the segment, Goldberg recalled spending time with Reiner when Billy Crystal received the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize in 2007. “We were together quite a bit and he was a wonderful director and a guy who was a stand-up guy,” she said. “And he fought for the stuff that was right.” **
Reiner and his wife were found dead of an apparent homicide in their Brentwood, Calif., home on Sunday. Their son, Nick Reiner, has since been taken into custody and is currently being held on $4 million bail.

In his Truth Social post, Trump acknowledged that “a very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood” before going on to mock the director behind celebrated films like* Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, Spinal Tap, When Harry Met Sally, *and more. **
“Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS,” the Republican politician wrote. **
Trump continued, “He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”**
