When Kevin O’Leary walked the red carpet at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, he wasn’t just there as a business icon. He was there as a first-time movie actor and his longtime Shark Tank partner Daymond John made sure the world noticed.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, John shared a video montage of O’Leary’s Golden Globes moments and television appearances, reacting with visible pride to what he called a major milestone.

“I’m so proud of Kevin O’Leary for this incredible milestone,” John wrote. He added that watching Timothée Chalamet thank O’Leary during his Golden Globes acceptance speech brought him joy every single time.

John’s reaction centered on one clear idea: stepping outside your comfort zone. According to him, O’Leary gave his heart to the film Marty Supreme, and that effort showed on screen. He closed his message by congratulating O’Leary and wishing the movie a strong run in theaters, while also reminding fans to catch a new episode of Shark Tank airing the same night.

Kevin O’Leary’s Marty Supreme Acting Debut

O’Leary’s movie debut comes in Marty Supreme, directed by Josh Safdie and starring Timothée Chalamet as a wild, ambitious table tennis player named Marty Mauser. O’Leary plays Milton Rockwell, a wealthy entrepreneur who mentors and often humiliates the young athlete.

Speaking at the Golden Globes, O’Leary shared that working with Chalamet was intense but enjoyable. He explained that disliking the character made it easy to commit to the role fully.

“So for me, it was easy to go after him,” O’Leary told The Post, adding that he truly enjoyed their scenes together.

The film includes demanding moments, including a late-night scene involving a ping pong paddle that pushed both actors emotionally. O’Leary described the filming as tense and memorable, noting that some moments felt so real they surprised people on set.

One of the biggest highlights came when Chalamet won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy. During his speech, the actor thanked O’Leary, joking about how unexpected it was to thank “Mr. Wonderful from ‘Shark Tank.’”

The crowd laughed, and O’Leary did too. Later, Chalamet added that he was grateful, making the moment even more meaningful.

By calling O’Leary’s achievement a point of pride for the entire Shark Tank family, John reinforced the idea that their partnership goes beyond television. As Marty Supreme continues its run in theaters, O’Leary has already expressed his enjoyment of acting and is open to more roles in the future. For now, though, the spotlight is on this first step and on the public cheer coming from one of his closest colleagues.
