The White House launched a new cooking show called The Real Food Show starring Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The YouTube series follows Kennedy on a cross-country culinary tour to show that “cooking with real food can be practical, approachable, and affordable for every family.”

Kennedy has been the subject of numerous scandals related to his alleged penchant for preserving roadkill.

Move over, Gordon Ramsay’s beef Wellington. Step aside, Wolfgang Puck’s smoked salmon pizza. Make room for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s roadkill rigatoni.

The Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services launched a new cooking show on Thursday. Hosted by Kennedy himself, The Real Food Showfollows the controversial conservative politician on a culinary expedition across the country.

The official White House page for The Real Food Show describes the new venture as an effort to make “healthy, affordable cooking simple and accessible for every American.”

“Inspired by President Trump’s Make America Healthy Again agenda, Secretary Kennedy is bringing the Dietary Guidelines for Americans to life and showing that cooking with real food can be practical, approachable, and affordable for every family,” the description continues.

About those dietary guidelines.

New dietary guidelines released by the Trump administration in January have divided food and nutrition experts. Under Kennedy’s stewardship, the HHS inverted the traditional food pyramid which placed grains at the bottom (most consumed) and fats and oils at the top (least consumed). In the middle, fruit and vegetables were recommended for consumption at a slightly greater level than dairy and meat.

Kennedy’s new pyramid places meat, dairy, fruit, and vegetables at the top (most consumed), and tapers down through fruits and vegetables to whole grains. While the focus on “real food” passed most experts’ smell test, the enhanced emphasis on meat and dairy consumption, specifically red meat and whole milk, concerned some others.

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to the White House for comment.

The first episode of The Real Food Show is already live. It features Kennedy cooking crispy salmon cakes and an apple and bean salad alongside celebrity chef, conservative politician, and noted COVID-19 vaccine skeptic (a signature Kennedy issue) Andrew Gruel.

Food has been among Kennedy’s key concerns since being appointed to the head of HHS by President Donald Trump. The driving force behind the so-called Make America Healthy Again movement has been the subject of numerous bizarre dietary controversies.

“I am on a carnivore diet. I only eat meat or fermented foods,” RFK Jr. told USA Today in January, seemingly defying his own recommendations to supplement meat intake with dairy, fruits, and vegetables. That same month, Kennedy was pictured celebrating his birthday by digging into a steak, rather than a cake, festooned with candles.

In April, investigative journalist Isabel Vincent released a book that chronicled some of Kennedy’s strangest food-related tics, such as his penchant for stowing roadkill in his freezer to use for “research,” and as food for his birds.

“I was standing in front of my parked car on I-684 cutting the penis out of a roadkilled raccoon,” Kennedy is quoted as writing in 2001, “thinking how weird some of my family members have turned out to be.”
