Olivia Rodrigo revealed she attended a rave with Charli XCX and praised her as a supportive "girl's girl"

"I was a little out of my element, but I had the best time," she said

Both pop stars have expressed admiration for each other and are set to release new albums in the coming weeks

Partying with Charli xcx is anything but a bad idea… right?

Olivia Rodrigo appeared on BBC Radio 1 on Tuesday, June 2 and opened up about her friendship with the "360" singer, revealing that they'd recently attended a rave together.

Rodrigo, 23, was asked if there were any female pop stars she feels are supportive, and named the "wonderful and lovely" Charli, whom she praised as a "girl's girl."

"I actually went to a rave with her. I don't even know if it's a rave. I'm not like, a party girl. She's the ultimate party girl, obviously," Rodrigo said. "I was a little out of my element, but I had the best time, and she was very lovely."

The pair's outing was chronicled in a recent feature in Dazed, where a reporter hanging out at the London nightclub lost spotted Rodrigo with Charli, 33, and her husband George Daniel.

The article featured a black-and-white photo of a smiling, eyes closed Rodrigo hugging Charli from behind.

The pop stars have previously expressed admiration for one another. In a 2021 interview, Rodrigo praised Charli as an "incredible songwriter," and the star in turn congratulated Rodrigo on the success of her debut album Sour and wrote, "Hit me up any time" on X.

Both stars are set to release new albums in the coming weeks. Rodrigo's third record, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, is out June 12, while Charli announced this week that her new album Music, Fashion, Film will come out July 24.

"Hell yeah," Rodrigo commented on her Instagram announcement.

The spotlight on the pair's friendship comes days after a recent interview in which Rodrigo seemingly addressed the status of her relationship with Taylor Swift.

Though the two expressed public admiration for one another around the time of Rodrigo's debut, the pop star retroactively added Swift, Jack Antonoff and St. Vincent as co-writers on her hit "Deja Vu" — and fans noticed that ever since, Rodrigo has not spoken publicly about the "Opalite" singer.

When asked on the New York Times' Popcast about internet speculation about her and Swift, Rodrigo said it's something she doesn't "really read too far into."

"I think it comes with the territory and it's par for the course," she said. "If I dove into every internet detective sleuth that, like, got things right or wrong about my life, or any of my relationships, I think I'd just go crazy. Like, there's just not enough time in the day."

The "Drop Dead" singer told Rolling Stone in 2023 she doesn't have "beef" with anyone, and wasn't "super involved" in the songwriting credits.

"I wouldn't be the best person to ask," she said.
