Katy Perry stuck in giant prop during concert as singer begs fans for help

Katy Perry found herself temporarily stranded inside a giant inflatable water bottle after a stunt during her headlining set at the Isle of MTV Malta on Wednesday, July 22 went awry-and fans appeared to ignore her pleas for help.
The singer, 41, was performing at the show when the incident occurred in the European country, where she climbed into the transparent bottle and expected the crowd to roll her towards an enormous straw near the stage.
Unfortunately for the singer, who was accused of 'disgusting' acts by another star in April, fans actually pushed the bottle in the opposite direction, despite her shouts and gestures for them to send her back in the right direction.

Perry climbed into the giant bottle, which was nicknamed "Katyade" during a section of her performance where she performed early hits like Hot N Cold and I Kissed a Girl.
As fans carried the bottle over their heads, the goal was for it to be brought towards the matching giant straw, but different sections of the audience wound up pushing her in competing directions.

"Get me to that straw," she was reportedly heard telling the crowd, and also attempted to redirect them with her hands, but the object was continually drifting in the wrong direction with the star enclosed inside it.
She was eventually moved back towards the intended destination and managed to get out of the prop without injury.
After footage from the event went viral, many expressed that while they were glad she was okay, they couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of the stunt going awry.

"Genuinely so funny, I'm sorry," one person wrote on Reddit, while another added, "My genine first reaction. Just the idea of being like 'oh, this'll be fun!' to suddenly going, 'WTF? Why aren't they rolling me back?!' is frying me."
Others questioned why she thought the stunt was a good idea, and if someone had it out for her. "Why would you willingly agree to that?" one person asked, while another said,"Why would you ever put yourself in this situation."
"I...At this point, I seriously think her entire team hates her bc WHAT???" a third added. Perry previously pulled the stunt at a show in France, which proved to be more successful than the more recent attempt.

It isn't the first time a stunt has gone awry at one of Perry's shows though.
She suffered malfunctions during her Lifetimes Tour in 2025, with a stop in San Francisco, where her performance of the song Roar was interrupted when a suspended butterfly prop unexpectedly jolted and tilted in midair.
She also had an incident one month prior during a show in Australia, when her handlers lifted her into a suspended metallic sphere that suddenly tilted to one side upon release, forcing her to scramble and cling to overhead cables to keep her footing.
