Netflix will remove several popular movies and one show in August 2026
Some of the movies include romantic comedies, like 27 Dresses, Pretty Woman and The Proposal
Other titles leaving the streamer include the three original Spider-Man films
Netflix has seemingly endless amounts of movies, documentaries and television series available to subscribers.
While the streamer has several original pieces of content, it also buys temporary licenses to stream movies and TV shows from other studios. The contracts vary, with some lasting months and others years, so Netflix has a constant flow of movies and shows coming in and out.
Starting on Aug. 1, several beloved titles will be leaving Netflix — from romantic comedies to cult classics.
Here are some of the movies and television shows leaving Netflix in August 2026.

27 Dresses — Aug. 1

Katherine Heigl and James Marsden star in the 2008 romantic comedy classic, 27 Dresses. Heigl plays Jane, the “always a bridesmaid, never a bride,” who loves all things weddings but is struggling to find her happy ending with a hopeless crush.
Along the way, she meets Marsden’s anti-wedding bridal reporter who changes everything.

48 Hours – Aug. 1
The 1982 cop comedy 48 Hours has been a classic for over four decades.
The film follows rogue police officer Jack Cates (Nick Nolte) who teams up with bank robber Reggie Hammond (Eddie Murphy). For 48 hours, they work together to help Cates find his old partner, Albert Ganz (James Remar), who’s on a murder spree.
Even though Reggie knows just how to help Jack, he’s not going to waste a second of his freedom.

The Age of Adaline – Aug. 1

Unlike the rest of the world, Adaline Bowman (Blake Lively) has not aged a day since turning 29 years old in The Age of Adaline.
After getting into a near-fatal accident in 1908, Adaline has remained a young adult for nearly eight decades. However, her life takes a turn when she meets Ellis Jones (Michiel Huisman) and starts to fall in love.

Atonement – Aug. 1
Atonement keeps viewers on their toes until the very end. The 2007 romantic war movie, based on the Ian McEwan book of the same name, stars Keira Knightley as Cecilia and James McAvoy as Robbie, who fall in love but are pulled apart after her younger sister Briony (Saoirse Ronan) lies about an assault that results in Robbie’s imprisonment.
The story spans the course of six decades, beginning in the 1930s, and explores how the allegations affect all those involved.

Borat – Aug. 1

The massive box office hit Borat stars Sacha Baron Cohen as Borat Sagdiyev, a fictional journalist from Kazakhstan traveling to the U.S. to film a documentary on America.
The 2006 mockumentary follows Borat as he winds around the country, while interviewing — and offending — Americans along the way.

The Newman family seems to be a picture-perfect unit, but patriarch Michael (Adam Sandler) is struggling to balance his career with his personal life in the 2006 comedy Click.
Just in the nick of time, Michael meets the inventor Morty (Christopher Walken) who gives him a magical remote that allows him to pause, fast forward and skip through parts of his life.
It doesn’t take long for Michael to realize that the remote comes with more consequences than he was anticipating.

The 2015 hit movie Everest chronicles the real-life story of two climbers, Rob Hall and Scott Fischer, who desperately try to save their two expedition groups after a violent blizzard overtakes Mount Everest in May 1996.
In the film, Jason Clarke portrays Hall, while Jake Gyllenhaal plays Fischer.

However, nothing is as it seems, and Ava may have already exceeded expectations.

Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride Part II – Aug. 1

Nancy Meyers’ feel-good comedy Father of the Bride centers around George Banks (Steve Martin), a father struggling to come to terms with his daughter Annie (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) getting married.
The 1991 film was followed by the 1995 sequel, Father of the Bride Part II, which follows the Banks family — including mom Nina (Diane Keaton) — finally getting settled in their new normal.

Just when everything seems to be back on track, Annie and Nina get pregnant at the same time and turn the Banks family upside down, once again.

Hacksaw Ridge – Aug. 1
The 2016 biographical war movie Hacksaw Ridge tells the true story of Private First Class Desmond T. Doss (Andrew Garfield), who refused to use any weapons while fighting in World War II due to his religious beliefs.
Despite his initial struggle to gain his colleagues’ respect, Doss went on to win the Congressional Medal of Honor for his role in the Battle of Okinawa.

Tobey Maguire launched Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe when he portrayed Peter Parker in the first three films.
The first Spider-Man film, which hit theaters in 2002, introduces the rising superhero and his origin story, while also having him fight his first villain, the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe).
In Spider-Man 2, Maguire returns as Spider-Man, but he’s struggling to balance both his powers and his life as a college student — which includes his crush on Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) and complicated friendship with Harry Osborn (James Franco). The 2004 film follows Peter fighting against the sci-fi Doctor Octopus robot (Alfred Molina).
The final film of the first franchise, Spider-Man 3, premiered in 2007 and starred Maguire, once again, as Spider-Man battling three villains: Sandman, Venom and the New Goblin.

Marry Me – Aug. 10
Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson take center stage in the 2022 romantic comedy Marry Me. Lopez portrays superstar Kat Valdez, who is set to marry Bastian (Maluma) in front of her fans, but she changes course when she finds out he’s cheating on her.
Around the same time, she sees fan Charlie Gilbert (Wilson) holding a “Marry Me” sign and ties the knot with him instead.
