**This article contains spoilers from *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie*.**

The world of the plumber brothers from New York City just got infinitely larger with the arrival of *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie* (now playing in theaters).

As Mario (Chris Pratt), Luigi (Charlie Day), Yoshi (Donald Glover), Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), and Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) race across space to rescue Princess Rosalia (Brie Larson) and stop Bowser (Jack Black) and Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie), a number of characters from across Nintendo's roster of video games pop in.

Here are all the big character cameos, from the obvious to some you might've missed.

*The Super Mario Galaxy Movie* turned out to be a low-key crossover with *Super Smash Bros.* by bringing in characters from across the Nintendo spectrum. Announced ahead of the film's release, Glen Powell voices Fox McCloud, the spaceship-piloting fox first introduced in the 1993 adventure game *Star Fox*.

Once Fox McCloud is introduced, an anime-inspired sequence plays on screen, depicting his origin in another dimension. Members of Team Star Fox, including Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare, and Slippy Toad — all characters from the *Star Fox* games with Fox McCloud — appear.

In the spacecraft hangar where Fox McCloud preps his ship, a small rocket descends on the launch pad. Out spills a bunch of colorful Pikmin, the plant-like creatures from Nintendo's line of real-time strategy and puzzle video games of the same name.

Princess Daisy

Princess Daisy was the surprise reveal in the post-credits scene. While a third Mario movie has yet to be announced, this ending tag sets her up to have a bigger role in the future. Read more about the character.

A robotic character and a bomb character are on a grassy field near a large castle in a colorful setting

Nintendo and Universal Studios

Ed Skudder voices R.O.B., which stands for Robotic Operating Buddy. The robot appears in the film at the info booth at the galactic weigh station as Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi frantically try to catch up with Peach. The character itself originated as a companion plaything for the NES console in 1985. He later became a playable fighter in *Super Smash Bros. Brawl*.

In the final battle against Papa Bowser and his progeny, Mario and Peach leap over the giant King Koopa on the lava bridge and send him tumbling into the molten river below. However, the villain emerges as a giant skeleton, which Nintendo players know to be Dry Bowser, the undead form of Bowser that debuted in *New Super Mario Bros.*

Mr. Game & Watch

In the same final battle, Luigi gets hold of Bowser Jr.'s Magic Paintbrush, but doesn't know how to use it well. The best that Mario's brother can do is conjure a 2D, all-black figure to defend them. It's Mr. Game & Watch, a character from the *Game & Watch* video games back in the '80s. He became a playable character much later in the *Smash Bros.* series.

The main villain of *Super Mario Bros. 2* arrives in *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie*. He's the head honcho of this Vegas-style underground casino in the film's in-between Nintendo-themed world. Peach and Toad run into Wart, voiced by Luis Guzman, who has intel on Rosalina's whereabouts.

Birdo and Mouser

There are lots of adversaries attacking Peach and Toad in the casino sequence. Once they get in the crosshairs of Wart, two familiar game characters join the fray. Birdo is the pink Yoshi-looking dinosaur who can fire eggs from her snout, while Mouser is the giant bomb-throwing mouse with sunglasses. It's no surprise they're paired with Wart, since all three featured in the same game, *Super Mario Bros. 2*.

The thieving monkey (Roxana Ortega) that first steals Toad's items — and his unfinished novel! — is a Ukiki, a kind of primate appearing in games like *Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island* and *Super Mario 64*. She appears again in the film's post-credits scene as Daisy stops her from stealing from a Whittle.

What is a Whittle, you ask? It's a type of tree spirit that looks like a little critter made out of wood. It appears in *Super Mario Galaxy 2*.

Issa Rae voices Honey Queen, a gargantuan queen bee who takes Bowser into indentured servitude while letting Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi go after they crash land into her domain. The character featured in *Super Mario Galaxy*, the game, and later appeared in *Mario Kart 7* for the Nintendo 3DS.

Baby Mario and Luigi

Illumination Entertainment/Universal Pictures

Thanks to Bowser Jr.'s age-manipulating Super Scope, the baddie lasers Mario and Luigi, transforming them into baby versions of themselves who get into all sorts of hijinks with a rampaging T. rex. Baby Mario and Baby Luigi are also video game characters, playable in various *Yoshi’s Island* and *Mario Kart* installments.

While Seth Rogen voiced Donkey Kong and played a prominent role in the first *Super Mario Bros. Movie*, the character only makes a brief appearance in the sequel. He pops in for a split second during the montage of Yoshi's trip to New York City.

All those black-suited, star-shaped creatures with red buttons that descend upon Peach and Toad in the casino? Those are actually characters that made their game debut in *Super Mario Bros. 2* and later became playable figures in *Mario Golf: Super Rush* and *Super Mario Party Jamboree*.
